Softscapes
In landscape design, softscapes are the plant materials added to the project. Trees, shrubs and perennials provide a multitude of interests and functions in your outdoor living space. They provide seasonal interest through bark and leaf color, sequence of bloom, texture, structure and fragrance. In addition, plants can be used to screen objectionable views and sounds, provide privacy, define boundaries and control traffic. Strategic planting can also mitigate erosion to better utilize onsite water. Plant materials are selected based on mature size, exposure, soil conditions and intent of use. Cultural issues such as level of maintenance, insect/disease susceptibility and water requirements are always examined before selecting a plant for use in your custom designed landscape.
