Executive Profile – Juanita M. Grigg

Juanita Malone Grigg, having grown up in the Tidewater Region of Virginia, entered Virginia Tech in the fall of 1974 majoring in Accounting. Juanita completed three years of study at Virginia Tech before marrying Steve Grigg and moving with him to Northern Virginia. She completed her Accounting Degree at George Mason University in Fairfax, VA.

Juanita’s early career in Accounting focused on not for profit and charity organizations. She spent 6 years with the National Governor’s Association in Washington, DC where her position ranged from federal contract accounting to managing the accounting department.

Juanita moved on to work with the National Headquarters of the American Red Cross starting in federal contracting and project accounting, moving to specialized project accounting which included the major responsibility for preparation of the National organizations consolidated financial information returns to be submitted to the Federal government and then to management of the general accounting department. While with the American Red Cross Juanita also worked on site with the disaster relief efforts in Puerto Rico after hurricane Hugo and later went to San Francisco to assist with the accounting for the earthquake relief effort in San Francisco, CA.

In the spring of 1991, Juanita joined the staff of Grigg Design, Inc. full time as the accounting/office manager. Her responsibilities with the company range from maintaining the computerized financial programs and payroll in house and filing all state, local and federal tax and licensing returns and documents to doing all of the plant material ordering. Juanita has also been a guest speaker for Horticulture classes at Virginia Tech.

Her personal and professional accomplishments include getting her CPA certification, being a two time winner of the American Red Cross Tiffany award for Employee Excellence and being a member of the National Association of Female Executives.
